Our Region

Greater Greer is a town in a two-county region situated in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains in an area known as the Piedmont in Upstate South Carolina. The Chamber serves this region, which includes Greer, Taylors, Lyman, Duncan, Five Forks, and all of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties.

Infrastructure

Our region forms the western edge of Upstate South Carolina offering diverse business and industry opportunities; excellent transportation corridors with two main interstates (I-29 and I-85); and convenient access to an international airport (GSP), a rail system, and several top tier universities (Furman, Wofford, USC Upstate, Greenville Technical College, and Clemson).

Governance

As a membership organization, the Chamber is governed by a diverse, 17 person Executive Board and 60 person Board of Advisors with 4 full-time and 2 part-time staff members. Meet the team.

History

The Chamber began in 1937 as the Greer Chamber of Commerce. J. S. Paget was the first President of the Chamber and the vision was to “tell Greer’s story to the industrial and the agricultural world.” In 1983 the Chamber added "Greater" to our name. The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce has evolved but continues to tell the great story of Greer and the greater business community.
