Greater Greer Education Foundation
Mission: To gather resources and provide support to enrich and extend educational opportunities in the Greater Greer Area.
Vision: To empower, inspire and support all members of the Greater Greer community to reach their full potential by enhancing education.
The Greater Greer Education Foundation was created in 2009 when the Executive Board of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce voted to create a not for profit 501 C(3) with a focus on Education. Margaret Burch, an education advocate who served the Greer area on the Greenville County School Board for 20 years, was asked to serve as the first Executive Director. In 2011 she was elected chairman of the of the Board, a position she held until 2015. She remains on the Board of Directors. Board members are elected to serve a two-year term and the Foundation serves 27 schools in Greenville and Spartanburg Counties.
Each year the Foundation gives nearly $20,000 in the form of grants and scholarships to students and teaches advancing education either through the classroom or continuing education.
